The ranch, in detail.

What Twin Oaks is, where it came from, and everything waiting on the property.

From cattle brand to campfire.

For years these 168 acres ran as a working ranch owned by Charlie Thomas, the businessman best known as a former owner of the Houston Rockets. The land kept its bones when it changed hands: the giant live oaks, the open pasture, the pond where the fish still bite.

Today Twin Oaks is two things at once. It is a luxury RV resort and glamping retreat, with spacious sites, a new bathhouse, and stays you cannot book anywhere else on this stretch of Interstate 10. And it is an event center, with a wedding campus that has hosted everything from elopements at the little white church to 150-guest receptions in the dance hall.

You will find us in Alleyton, ten minutes from the courthouse square in historic Columbus, an hour west of Houston, and about ninety minutes east of Austin.

The amenities

Every stay, from a weekend RV site to a wedding block, comes with the run of the resort.

Indoor pool with rock waterfall and hot tub

The Indoor Pool House

A resort-size pool, hot tub, and rock waterfall under timber trusses. Open rain or shine, January or July.

Saloon casino game room with craps table and vintage slots

The Saloon Casino

A game room straight out of a western: craps and blackjack tables, a wheel of fortune, and a wall of vintage slots. For fun, not fortunes.

The general store

The General Store

Firewood, s’mores supplies, forgotten toothbrushes, and a proper porch. The unofficial center of camp gossip.

The guest lounge

The Guest Lounge

Couches, cool air, and room to spread out a puzzle or a laptop when the afternoon heat peaks.

New bathhouse with private tiled showers

The New Bathhouse

Freshly built and kept spotless: private tiled showers, generous vanities, and honest water pressure.

Boardwalk trails across the lawns

Boardwalks & Trails

Boardwalks link the cottages, chapel, and schoolhouse; walking trails wander the rest of the 168 acres.

  • Lakeside fishing on the ranch pond
  • Go-kart track
